AFEP's complaint mechanism was created as an attempt to increase the accountability of the project both for donor institution and project implementer. Also it provides a way for you to complain to AFEP about an AFEP project that you think is harming or may harm you in future because AFEP did not follow its own policies, and to improve compliance with its social and environmental policies. Also the complaint mechanism is an important precedent, as it provides a unique opportunity for local citizens to challenge the activities of an international institution.
